This Best Practice Document captures the lessons, philosophies and structures that have guided Azadi’s first years of growth. It documents how the organization has evolved from a small survivor collective into a dynamic community of over 150 members who co-create programs, shape governance and lead advocacy efforts. Azadi’s foundational values are explored together with the unique governance structure, strategic priorities and values- based approaches to program design, community-building and survivor leadership. It serves as a living resource for survivors, partners and organizations seeking to build and support survivor- led initiatives.
